Slawomir Zapala’s 'Love in Zakopane’ Achieves Quadruple Diamond Status
Slawomir Zapala’s „Love in Zakopane” is a Polish hit that continues to break records years after its initial release. The song’s official music video has been viewed over 230 million times on YouTube, and it continues to be immensely popular among Polish listeners.
But the song’s success doesn’t stop there. Recently, the Association of Audio-Video Producers, which awards certificates for single and album sales, announced that „Love in Zakopane” had reached a historic milestone. It became the first song in Poland to achieve quadruple diamond status, a remarkable achievement for any artist.

In order to earn a diamond record, a single must generate at least 200,000 zlotys in revenue, with the criterion for singles by domestic artists applied to plays on streaming services. This means that „Love in Zakopane” has earned at least 800,000 zlotys, a testament to the song’s enduring appeal and Slawomir’s talent as a musician.
Slawomir Zapala’s Life Before 'Love in Zakopane’
Slawomir Zapala is an actor from Krakow who graduated from the State Theatre Academy in Krakow in 2006. Since then, he has appeared in numerous films and TV series, including „Karol. The Man Who Became Pope”, „33 Scenes from Life” and „Hotel 52”. Although he hasn’t yet landed a major role in his career, he is often cast in uniformed roles, which directors seem to appreciate.
In 2014, Slawomir created his stage persona, „Slawomir,” while living on Long Island, New York. It quickly gained popularity among Polish immigrants at the time.
In 2011, he married actress Magdalena Kajrowicz, known professionally as Kajra. They often tell a fictional story about how they met in the States, where Kajra was working as a waitress. Supposedly, Slawomir spoke to her in Spanish, but when she served him pierogi, he realized she was Polish. In reality, they met during their acting studies.
The couple has a son named Kordian and currently performs not only in Zakopane but all over Poland. Slawomir is a star of the Rock Polo genre, which he created himself with the help of his friends Tymon Tymanski and Piotr Kedzierski, who came up with the characteristic greeting „Hi, it’s Sławomir”.
„Love in Zakopane,” Slawomir’s hit song, captured the hearts of Poles in the summer of 2017. Slawomir wrote both the lyrics and the music for the song, which is about Zakopane and became a hit at the 2017 New Year’s Eve party in the Tatra Mountains capital.
In 2018, there were reports that the couple might finally realize their dream of building a house in Slawomir’s hometown in the Limanowa district.
